This site explores William Faulkner's Light In August as a freewheeling repository of ideas, musings, bibliographies,essays,textual analyses (allusions, character,unity), links (related, whimsical, and odd), and all things "Light In August." And more, since neither Faulkner nor "Light In August" exist in a vacuum -- neither do you; neither do I.

As an HTML moron, I've resorted to site-builder software. Though graphics on this page are generally acceptable (i.e.the delightful little black & white snapshot (upper left) of children reading, glasses atop the stack of books (lower left), and even the inkwell, aged manuscripts, and quill(right side))are passable... the middle left snapshot seems insincere and weirdly suggestive of fetish porn --not that there is anything wrong with fetish porn. However, I've only included lighter fare.. the pedestrian Faulknerian vignettes of incest, murder, rape, racism, and castration.

This is a project and some of it simply projection. The site is personal, opinionated, and eccentric at times. So is Faulkner. Light In August persuaded me Faulkner doesn't suck. When I met with the words,"Memory believes before knowing remembers[...]" on page 111 of my text  -- Faulkner, William. Light in August. New York: Vintage, 1959 --, something resonated. Faulkner was up to something, into something, connected with something, or everything and all things.

Though I intend a good bit of conventional literary Faulkner scholarship here, I will freely speculate on the metaphysical side of things. This could get weird. So, I invite one and all to share, contribute ( kudos and credits), rail, wax-on and wax-off,and so on ad nauseum.
